Kirk joined the Charity Newsies in 1995. Born and raised in Columbus, Kirk remembers the Newsies selling papers in December as a child and grew up with a strong desire to some day join the organization. Kirk worked for the YMCA of Central Ohio from 1985 to 1996, in that time, he had the opportunity to express his desire to become a Newsie to Ken Martin who, along with Weaties Whalen would go on to sponsor Kirk for membership in the organization.
Kirk has served on the board as a Trustee for the past four years. In addition, Kirk was the chair of the Activism committee and has served on the Drive Day Logistics and Human Resource committees.
Kirk is a Vice President and Senior Relationship Director for Nationwide Financial. Kirk’s responsibilities include national account management with financial institutions across the country. Kirk joined Nationwide in 1996.
Kirk married his wife Wendy in August 2009 and they enjoy boating, golfing and The Ohio State Buckeyes.
