Dick has been a Charity Newsie for 20 years. Growing up in the Columbus North Linden Area he was well aware of the Charity Newsies Organization. He has always had an interest to serve. During the depression his family received help from the Newsies. Long-time Newsie and Brother Mike encouraged him to join the Newsies.
Dick served four years as Chairman of the Drive Day Logistic Committee, coordinating the distribution of the 10,000 newspapers to be sold, and two years as a Board Trustee. Dick has been a Corner Captain at Westerville and Morse Road for 5 years.
Dick retired from the Columbus Police Department in 2002. He served in many units of the department during his 29 year career. He currently works part-time at a local golf course.
Dick has coached basketball at the elementary level and high school golf. Dick and his wife of 37 years Patty reside in Clintonville. They are the parents of son Brian and daughter Nancy and they have 5 grandchildren.
